SEO – handling noindex meta tag

Add the following meta tags if you don’t want pages to be indexed ;

<meta name="robots" content="noarchive,noindex,nofollow" />

<meta name="googlebot" content="noindex" />

“A meta no index tag is an easy way to keep a particular page out of the index”…”if you use the no index meta tag google will not show your page in any way shape or form.”

but in reality Google does not obey noindex Meta Tag;
check the following;
Google shows del.icio.us homepage for

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=del.icio.us&btnG=Search

even though del.icio.us has noindex/nofollow tag

meta name=”robots” content=”noarchive,nofollow,noindex”/

and it’s robots.txt says:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
Allow: /rss
